Committees

We have committees to aid in the organization of each aspect of the club. They are Activities, Special Events, Community Service, Hospitality, Membership, Fundraising, Business Meeting, Website/Technology, Archives, and Playgroups. Everyone signs up for one of these committees. Your participation will enhance the Club's activities and output, thereby increasing the enjoyment for all!

What follows is a brief description of committees and the type of help they could use from committee members and non-committee members alike.  If you have any questions about the specifics of a committee, please contact that committee chair. (Her number can be found in the newsletter.)  We hope you find your committee experience to be enjoyable as well as productive.

Hospitality:  We are always looking for volunteers to help deliver cards and coordinate meals to families with newborns or those enduring a crisis.

Activities:  This committee plans our monthly calendar of events and prepares materials for Craft Day.  Story time readers, hosts for game nights and potlucks, and people with ideas are needed.

Special Events:  We host seasonal parties that are open to the entire membership. Volunteers are always needed to help with set up and clean up as well as other aspects of party planning.

Community Service:  The LMC's Community Service Committee provides a variety of opportunities for LMC members to give back to our community--and get our children involved as well. Every month, LMC members and our children visit a local nursing home to share conversation, a craft activity and the laughter of young children. The LMC sponsors a group birthday party every month for children at a local shelter so that they can enjoy birthday cake and some new books during their birthday month. Throughout the year, LMC members collect donations of different items to help someone in need, such as canned goods for a local food pantry; baby supplies for a pregnancy-aid center; clothing or toiletries for homeless shelters; and toys for children. Every holiday season, the LMC "adopts" some local families in need, and LMC members provide Thanksgiving food baskets, and help fulfill their holiday wish-lists.
 

Membership:  If you read about us in the paper, then you know what our membership committee does. We also greet visitors and new members.

Fundraising:  Our job is to organize any fundraising efforts for the Club.  In years past we have held silent auctions and "Make-it, Bake-it, Sew-it, Grow-it" where we sell items donated from our members and the community.

Business Meeting:  The members of this committee arrange for guest speakers, plan discussions and business meeting socials, coordinate refreshments and leave our meeting place in good order. If you have an idea for a business meeting topic, would like to volunteer as a greeter, or can help move tables before and after the meeting, please call us.

Archives/Historian:  This committee is in the process of organizing our documents/history.  This includes scanning documents into the computer so we can go paperless!  

Website/Technology:  This committee is responsible for maintaining our website and troubleshooting any technology issues that arise.
